Activated Alumina with Potassium Permanganate
Media that removes hydrogen sulfide and VOC odors
KMnO₄-impregnated activated alumina that oxidizes hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans and VOCs for air and gas purification.
Product Overview
Activated alumina impregnated with potassium permanganate combines the high surface area of alumina with the oxidizing power of KMnO₄. Hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, mercaptans, aldehydes and many VOCs are chemically oxidized into harmless sulfate and carboxylate residues, permanently removing them from air streams.
This media is the go-to solution for municipal sewage lift stations, wastewater treatment odor control, industrial exhaust scrubbing and confined space air purification, delivering total odor removal without the risks of wet chemical scrubbers.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does KMnO₄ alumina media last?
Service life depends on contaminant loading. When the media color changes from purple to brown, oxidation capacity is exhausted and replacement is required, typically every 6-24 months.
